All I can say is on Friday we went to see Journey at the Aladdin theater in Vegas and were so completely dissapointed in both the sound and the performance that we headed off to see Hank the next evening with some thought to it not being such a great show. I am happy to say we were WRONG. THe theater still has terrible sound but Hank was GREAT. I have seen him about 15 times and while this was the first time I saw him perfom to only a half sold show...he was fantastic as always. The only disappointment was how short the show was. And No encore . The entire crowd ..what little of it there was..was on it's feet having the time of it's life. Our group of four danced thru every song. I just can't understand why I never heard one commercial for his show..or saw it advertised. I got notice thru ticket master or I would have missed it. We were able to get some pretty good pics and if that is allowed here, I will post them. We normally hate Vegas shows.. as they cost four times as much as anywhere else, and have a much smaller theater. I guess Hank didn't want to waste time on this small crownd but wow..we sure would have loved to have heard more. Hank is still as good as he ever was...we just need more of him!

Thanks for the Review. Sounds like you had a good time. Remember what he sang by chance.

Thanks for the post, bethlee! In Birmingham, I have noticed that there is only 1 station that really advertises Hank's concerts, and the rest seem to pretend that it isn't even happening. :?

Funny thing was..he followed almost exactly the same routine I have always seen him do..a full set..an acustic set..and then the band joined in again. He did LaGrange, Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound, Women I Never Had, Country Boy, etc oh and Monday night football. All the usual stuff. Normally tho, he would do another set of new songs..best show I ever saw was in Phoenix, where he actually had them pull the plug on him...he was doing Cindy Lauper's Money Changes Everything..and he sooo rocked it. I just kept telling the people I took that this was not going to be a country concert..I took my horse shoer...LOL..he had always wanted to see him and never had..so I took pity on the that sweet young thing and told him to be prepared to ROCK. I haven't seen him for a few years..since the last show I went to and he was a little bit drunk and only time I was ever disappointed..but I was so happy to say this show renewed my Faith..been listening to Hank for 25 years...I may be 49 but I still like to 'get' rocked! And like I said..it was just too short!! Can you upload pics here?

You don't? :? I have them on mine, but of course, mine may look differently since I have the Admin view. Bethlee, I'll be glad to walk you through it.
I'll send you a PM, if that's OK. (Since you're new, if you don't get a pop-up message that tells you that you have a PM (private message), just check for one in a few minutes. (Look up at the links at the top of the page.)

Oh, shoot. I was gonna do it "the hard way," but then Piggy just found the instructions. Nevermind the PM. (Piggy, you are so helpful today!)
Anyway, let me know if I can help after you see Piggy's link.

thanks for the welcome! I am trying to figure out how to post the pics..we had noticed that even tho they said no cameras..everyone had one at the Journey concert the night before. They are not great as I didn't take the good one in with the good lens so in case security got tuff I wouldn't have to go all the way back to the truck ... so took in one I could slip in my purse. No great close ups but not too bad . Will keep trying...

Thank heavens for you Bethlee. The people on the board who didn't get to go were counting on the people from the board who did get to go to fill them in but for some reason they have been real tight with the info. Really appreciate the perspective! You are a doll!

well, I looked for some kind of review site so I could see if it was going to be worth it to fight the crowd to go . We would rather get hit with a big stick than go down to the strip! I live here but have horses and show paints...don't do the whole casino deal. Alot of acts come here but because the theaters are sooo much smaller than normal, you do NOT get the same sort of regular experience. Ususally they pass out tickets to gamblers to fill the room so you might see a band with a crowd filled with people who don't really know their music and sometimes don 't care. Saw Alabama once cuss a crowd cause that happened to them and they barely got any applause. I found this site and it was the only one that had a mention that Hank was till going strong. I just wanted to let anyone else who might be 'thinking' about going that it is definately worth it! I would love to go again..only this time maybe drive down to Phoenix if he goes again so I can see a full concert like he usually does. This was the first time out of 15 concerts that he didn't do an oncore..But for the people who were there..they were wild for him.. I didn't see anyone sitting down... all were dancing and haivng a good time and all wanted MORE!! Of course the ten bars and waitresses serving beer during the show didn't hurt any.

Don't worry, yldstrk. If I know Doe (and I don't REALLY know Doe, but I imagine if I DID know him) he is probably making sure that his pics are done just right before he puts his name behind them. After all, once you put a pic on the internet, you can't get it back again.

Welcome to the board, I was actually on the second tier of the arena there, I was just lucky to have brought one of my bigger lenses to the concert and a tripod to get up overone standing, if you noticed where the sound booth was, I was right beside them

Well you got some great shots! We were toward the end of row 103 ..the sound booth was toward the right of us. Didn't see you as we would have noticed a tripod! Hubby is a photographer and there was no way he wanted to bring his big cannon and good lens to be told to put it in the truck.. that's his baby! Kutos to you for getting it done! I just wanted some shots for myself and now totally jealous of yours! Now how did you get VIP and backstage with Hank and the head of the Alladin?? Is it because you own this forum? I found that the nearest seat online is row P and all the rest in front of that are VIP. Didn't know a soul that had Alladin connections so couldn't do better. Now..if they had advertised this on more stations and had it at a bigger venue it would have been a bigger, better show. One of the bad things about Vegas..most acts are not used to it. Hank even made a comment he was afraid he might blow the doors off that little place!

BTW Hank Jr never does an encore! I agree the show was kinda short, but he had to hop a bus for a 13 hour ride to do a show in Cali on Sunday night.

I went to the Hank show in Vegas as well. I thought the sound in the place was awesome, you could understand every word crisp and clear and the music sounded great. I don't know about the whole 'not playing very long' thing..........he went for an hour and a half. All in all a sweet show!!
The songs I remember are:
Women I've Never Had
All My Rowdy Friends Have Settled Down
All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight
Born To Boogie
The Blues Man
The Conversation
Tee-Tot Song
Feelin' Better
Country Boy Can Survive
Young Country
I Really Like Girls
I'm For Love
The World Don't Revolve Around Kenny Chesney (or whatever it's called)
Mind Your Own Business/Move It On Over
Kaw-liga
Whiskey Bent And Hell Bound
Old Habits
There's A Tear In My Beer
La Grange/Cat Scratch Fever/Walk This Way...etc......into Family Tradition
